About copywriting service Written by Helen

Meaningful copy and content for creative and purpose-driven businesses that's blended with SEO and AIO know-how

You've set up your creative or purpose-led business because you want to make a real difference – solve a problem, support people, have a positive impact on the world.

You know you need a website that showcases your product or service, but creating the copy for it isn't always easy. Website copy and content can take up a lot of your precious time, time that you'd rather spend on actually running your business.

And while you know your business inside out, it isn't easy to craft copy that makes your website show up on Google and AI search engines*, attracts your ideal clients and then converts browsers to buyers, especially if you're not confident with writing.

This is why I became a copywriter for creative and purpose-led businesses.

Like you, I want my business to make a difference. I believe in the power of words for good, and I'd love to help your creative or purpose-led business really soar by making sure yours are working as hard as they can.

Think of me as your personal wordsmith and writing cheerleader, on hand to help you showcase your amazing creative or purpose-driven business with the world.

Before I became a writer, I worked in project management and fundraising for charities and arts & third sector organisations. Written by Helen brings together the two parts of my career, writing for socially conscious businesses who want to make a difference.

I've collaborated with some wonderful people and businesses, including a holistic therapist and astrologer, a tutoring service, a person-centred counsellor, a brand photographer, a fertility nutritionist and an ethical sales company.

These are all very different products and services but they're united by a common theme: wanting to have a positive impact on people and planet.

* I personally don't use AI, and definitely not when writing copy and content, because of the huge environmental cost, how it scrapes other people's work and the fact it can never write copy as compelling and unique as a human can. But as AI has now become a large part of the search experience, I appreciate that website copy and content needs to be optimised for AI search engines and programmes such as ChatGPT and Perplexity.

Purpose- and planet-led

Just like your business, I want mine to help other people. I value community, connection and sustainability, and I love working with people whose ethos mirrors this.

Ethical and trustworthy

One of my absolute business joys is creating genuine relationships with people I work with, and the copy I write for them reflects this. I don't use manipulative or exploitative copywriting tactics, and I always write with integrity.

Accessible

I believe that communication should be accessible to all, so I always structure website copy so it can be read by screen readers. I've also ensured my own website is as accessible as possible, including its text structure, contrast colours and alt text. I'm happy to advise you on this for your website.

Always learning

I've got SEO certification from HubSpot, and I'm constantly updating my knowledge, from writing and copywriting skills to SEO and AIO best practice. This means I can create even more effective copy and content for you.

Working with a copywriter for creative and purpose-driven businesses

When I'm not writing for creative and purpose-driven businesses, I also work with wedding businesses. As a former wedding magazine editor, I love the passion, creativity and friendliness of people in this industry, and the fact that they have a similar desire to use their skills and enthusiasm to help other people.

I also write and edit for lovely craft and lifestyle magazines such as Simply Crochet, The World of Cross Stitching and Simply ChristmasYou can read more about what else I get up to on my online portfolio and my LinkedIn profile.

When I'm not writing, I'm hanging out with my husband and son (surrounded by Lego and bikes), pottering in my garden and allotment, hanging upside down doing trapeze or aerial yoga, swimming in the sea or my local community-run pool, enjoying a book and a coffee, or cycling along the river.
